There exists the derivative of ideas that come to mind for any child of potential who may wish to find yet another way to see things. Although initially playful with the notion of a simple light bulb held over his flaxen-haired head, Linus announced in jest that he “had a thought.” And yet, with setting this cliché aside, to see his mind just open up and raise that light bulb still tethered by cord to the wall- it became an interaction that brought out a genuine expression and moment of wonder. Even the most basic objects of this day and age can be teaching tools to all generations. All we have to do is just take a step back, let go of the distractions we sometimes don’t realize we are holding onto, and embrace imagination from a different angle. And even if this shared epiphany is from two different points of view, it remains a lesson of suggestion that can only lead to the appreciation of endless possibilities.

At the mere age of 2, this trio of adorable cousins who all came into this world in the same year possess a technology interface skill set that trumps most generations. Life for them in many ways is a matter of swipes and touch points, and even if they don’t apply, they’ll still try. They might attempt to swipe your face if they don’t like the expression, or swipe a table tray if they want something else to eat, or swipe each other. So what happens when you place in front of them something with actual keys that are to be pushed down? It’s a bunch of fun, of course! Their grandmother was a pro at these L.C. Smith typewriters once upon a time- hammering out over 60 words per minute! So for Rylee, Taytum, and Raiden, these little ones are experiencing old school contemplations in the modern age. Perhaps there are other “communication roots” that are worth our children knowing about- as a way to remember to just slow down and enjoy the world around us- screen not included or necessary even.

"Lake's Lullaby"

Her parents welcome her peaceful gaze following a winding maze of observations from this little Miss Lake Mackinley Murray. Endless expressions will unfold with stories to be told years later regarding her first words, her first steps, and other first moments to cherish. And, no matter what mood, a smile or a brood, there is comfort and love that surrounds her. Just 30 days ago from this day, Lake was brought into this world of endless possibilities. And, even at this earliest of ages, her tiniest of hands and feet are greeted with parents who will always be there for her with love and unconditional support. These emotions and notions of adoration will be her song Tommy & Nickole will play each day during her moments of pre and post- slumber. So as her heart beats strong, let that rhythm belong to the tempo of sweet Lake’s lullaby.
